Symmetry Finance Solutions Pty Ltd (SFS) is an advice-based boutique Mortgage broking business.

The business holds a full Australian Credit Licence (ACL 390736), is a member of the industry peak body the MFAA (Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia) and is also a member of the AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority).

Symmetry Finance Solutions is part of the FAST Aggregation Group of mortgage brokers, through which we have access to 35 residential lenders and 15 commercial lenders.

Lenders and their Credit Policies

We do the research to shortlist lenders that meet your needs. We arrange loans across the full spectrum of lenders from major banks, to second their banks, non-bank lenders and specialist lenders.

With our experience we have the required knowledge around ‘credit policy’ across lenders to find suitable solutions. We also have the capacity to negotiate policy exceptions, which can be so important in many cases.

Compliance Matters

Australian Credit Licence

In 2010 national legislation was passed requiring all Mortgage Brokers to either apply for their own Australian Credit Licence (ACL) or to operate as an Authorised Credit Representative under another company’s licence. ASIC are the regulator, who oversees strict adherence to compliance guidelines. In December 2010 Symmetry Finance Solutions (SFS) was granted an ACL.

MFAA and AFCA

We are full members of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia and abide by their Code of Ethics. We are also affiliated with AFCA – it is an independent and impartial complaint resolution body. Should we not be able to resolve an issue with you directly, you may wish to contact AFCA. National Consumer Credit Protection Act

SFS complies carefully with the guidelines set, in particular we:

  • Meet and exceed the NCCP’s (and MFAA’s) minimum standards for ongoing industry professional development required to be undertaken each year.
  • Maintain the recommended level of Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Conduct a ‘Client Needs Analysis’ and ‘Preliminary Assessment’ to fully understand and assess a client’s situation, objectives and ability to manage the level of lending required, before recommending any specific lender options.
  • Provide a written ‘Credit Proposal Disclosure Document’ to the client detailing key elements of a loan facility recommended including rates, fees, repayment levels etc, and disclosing clearly the commissions paid to SFS by the proposed lender before proceeding to finance application.

A Personal Approach

Director and Principal Adviser David Starkey has been providing property finance advice since 2000 and has developed a strong reputation for his honest and straight forward approach, his personal ethics, and his genuine passion for helping his clients secure the most appropriate funding backed by sound strategy.

David is experienced dealing with everything from a basic home loan through to the most complex loan structures involving multiple entities and multiple properties. His breadth of knowledge across multiple lenders/policies and the related industry contacts cannot be understated.
